Kloop Kids – Closing the loop in kids fashion

I love fashion and especially fashion for children! You know that 😉

Our clothes have to withstand a lot here and at best be worn by all three of us. Good quality and durability are therefore two important requirements that I place on clothing for my kids.

We simply have to put up with clothes running around and playing in the garden, playroom or playground; frequent washing due to stains etc.

Over the years, a lot of children’s clothing has accumulated here. They grow out of many things (unfortunately far too quickly). The boxes are piling up in the cellar and I keep meaning to put them online on well-known platforms or go to the nearest flea market.

Always with the question: is it worth the time? All the preparation and the sale itself? Whether offline or online, the time required is considerable. But throwing them away or letting them gather dust in the cellar is not an option, the things are far too good for that. So the boxes are in the cellar until I find a solution to the problem.

I came across Kloop Kids by chance on Instagram and was immediately impressed by the concept of this online store, because Kloop Kids has set itself the task of tackling exactly my problem and offering a solution.

At Kloop Kids, second-hand clothes can be both sold and bought. Sustainability, inspiration, style and quality are guaranteed. I’m enthusiastic about this “circular” concept and that’s exactly why I conducted a short interview with the founder, Cerille, from KloopKids. As part of this, I was allowed to ask her five questions:

What is the idea behind Kloop Kids?

The idea for Kloop came from my own need to solve a problem.I have as a mom of two children. I love fashion for myself, and when I had my children, I naturally wanted them to look good too.ön dress. As they got bigger, boxes full of beautifulöner clothing in our cellar. I pay a lot of attention to sustainability and fair fashion with the brands I buy and know that these clothes still have a certain financial value. But I was working full time and really didn’t have the time (or the patience) to sell them. So I looked at online marketplaces, but the hassle of selling boxes of clothes individually just wasn ‘t an option. In my search for a Ln addition, I have also noticed that there is a growing second-hand market and that is of course a great thing for sustainability. But it’s really uninspiring and takes a lot of time to find clothes that you really like. I believe this is an important reason why those who can afford itThe fact that you can’t afford to buy new clothes second-hand is simply out of the question.

And I thought: I can ‘t be the only mom/parent with this problem … if there’s an inspiring, curated and convenient mf there were opportunities to buy/sell stylish and sustainable clothing, we would encourage more parents to do so. And so Kloop Kids was born.

Do you come from the fashion industry?

Not really, but I’ve always loved fashion and clothes, even as a child. I have worked in marketing for large multinational companies and managed very well-known cosmetics brands. So although I have not worked professionally in the fashion industry, I have a long experience in consumer goods marketing. I think the basic principles of marketing are applicable in all industries and the experience I have gained in my career helps me in this. And of course the passion – you can’t underestimate that. I am certainly more passionate about children’s clothes than shampoo.

What inspired you to set up your own online store?

When the idea for Kloop came to me, I thought, if this “concept” should exist and it doesn’t, why shouldn ‘t I just do it ? Of course, that’s easier said than done (I say that from personal experience), but that’s exactly what I did. It was clear to me that we didn’t need another online store that would be too expensive.I don’t want to sell eco-friendly(and sustainable) children’s clothing, because there are many who do this very well. But none are quite like Kloop, a store where you can buy (and sell) a curated selection of new and second-hand clothing – with a style all its own and the same inspiring shopping experience.

Although Pre-loved is a very resource intensive part of Kloop and frankly not the most profitable part of the business, we will always have it. Because if we only sell new things, even from the most sustainable brands, we are contributing to the problem of overconsumption instead of being part of the solution.solution.

What do you look for in the collections?

I think that sustainability has been a big issue in all areas of life in recent years, including fashion. But I also believe that people are more willing to change their behavior if they don’t feel that they have to make too many compromises. With clothing, this can mean style, quality, etc. When selecting the products that we stock at Kloop, we naturally pay attention to brands that produce fairly and value sustainability – this is a matter of course for us. But we also pay a lot of attention to the style and how it fits in with Kloop and what our customers expect from us. We also pay particular attention to quality, because the whole concept is that the clothes are passed on from child to child. Through our
Pre-loved collections
we have a good idea of which brands have the quality to fit a ” circular” concept and we know that we can also re-stock them.canre-stock them.

What have been the biggest successes and challenges so far?

I think the biggest success is that we have built a community of like-minded parents and this is slowly but surely growing. Parents who see children’s clothing in a similar way: They invest in better quality , fairly made clothes (rather than fast fashion) and share more – either by selling or buying secondhand. We have more and more customers buying and selling from us, and this ‘circular’ way of consuming children’s clothing is great proof that the Kloop idea and concept works!

The biggest challenge is certainly to make parents aware of Kloop without having a large marketing budget. That’s why we really appreciate accounts and bloggers like you, because you believe in the Kloop idea and, as a mom, you share your experiences with your followers, which really helps us to spread the word.

What are your goals with KloopKids?

Quite simply, we want to change the way we see and buy children’s clothes – by encouraging more and more parents to buy “better” and share more. And all this without sacrificing a convenient and inspiring shopping/sales experience. I have high hopes for what Kloop can become beyond the store…. slowly but surely.

I myself am an enthusiastic Kloop Kids customer. The concept is unique and everyone who has children should have heard of it. It has never been easier and more beautiful to buy or sell sustainable, high-quality, unique, stylish and beautiful fashion for children.

See for yourself and let’s all give Kloop Kids the attention they deserve!
